Delhi’s Chief Minister Atishi announced on Wednesday 25th Sept, 2024 an increase in the minimum wage for different categories of workers in the national capital. The updated wage structure will ensure that unskilled workers receive a minimum of ₹18,066 per month, semi-skilled workers will earn ₹19,929, and skilled workers will receive ₹21,917 per month.
In her inaugural press conference following her appointment as the Chief Minister of Delhi, Atishi stated that the AAP government, under the guidance of Arvind Kejriwal, established minimum wages for laborers in the city that are the “highest” in the nation.
She charged the BJP with being “anti-poor” and asserted that the minimum wages in states governed by the saffron party were “possibly half of what is being offered in Delhi.
