The J&K Cabinet has allegedly approved a resolution regarding Statehood, with the Opposition claiming that this represents a ‘scaling down’ of expectations. This development, which has not yet been verified by leaders of the National Conference, has drawn significant criticism from various Opposition parties.
The Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah of Jammu and Kashmir, has reportedly approved a resolution aimed at restoring Statehood to the Union Territory (UT). However, opposition parties have characterized this action as a retreat from the objectives outlined in Article 370.
The draft resolution was allegedly deliberated during the inaugural Cabinet meeting presided over by the newly-elected Chief Minister on Thursday, October 18, 2024. Mr. Abdullah, along with his five Ministers, participated in this first Cabinet session held at the Civil Secretariat in Srinagar.
