Equity benchmark indices, including the Sensex and Nifty, relinquished their initial gains and concluded lower on Monday, influenced by a significant decline in Kotak Mahindra Bank and ongoing foreign fund outflows.
The 30-share Sensex fell by 73.48 points, or 0.09 percent, closing at 81,151.27. Although the index surged by 545 points at the start of trading, it later faced selling pressure, reaching a low of 80,811.23. Throughout the day, the index experienced a fluctuation of 958.79 points between its highest and lowest levels.
Similarly, the NSE Nifty decreased by 72.95 points, or 0.29 percent, finishing at 24,781.10.
