A woman reportedly experienced sexual assault by five men at a picnic area in the Rewa district of Madhya Pradesh while she was accompanied by her husband, according to police statements made on Friday. “The couple had arrived at the location on a motorcycle on October 21. The suspects were engaged in bathing, cooking, and celebrating nearby,” stated Rewa Superintendent of Police Vivek Singh. He further explained that the group of men allegedly approached the couple and began to attack the husband, subsequently separating him from his wife, after which the assault occurred.
Authorities indicated that the suspects also purportedly recorded the incident. “In her testimony, the woman claimed that a video was filmed, and the assailants threatened to disseminate it if she disclosed the occurrence. The couple refrained from reporting the incident due to their fear,” Singh noted.
He added that the couple informed the police about the incident the following day, on Tuesday, leading to the registration of a First Information Report (FIR).
