Union Minister Kiren Rijiju announced on Tuesday that the winter session of Parliament will commence on November 25 and conclude on December 20.
“The Honorable President has approved, based on the Government of India’s recommendation, the summoning of both Houses of Parliament for the Winter Session, 2024, scheduled from November 25 to December 20, 2024, subject to the requirements of parliamentary business. A celebration will be held in the Central Hall of Samvidhan Sadan on November 26, 2024, in honor of Constitution Day and the 75th Anniversary of the Constitution’s adoption,” the minister posted on X. The Narendra Modi government is expected to exert considerable effort to ensure the controversial Waqf (Amendment) Bill is passed by both Houses.
The Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) on the Waqf Amendment Bills 2024 is regularly meeting with various stakeholders in different states to address their inquiries and work towards a consensus on the contentious legislation.
